Learn and Play Math
Math is part of our everyday activities. Surviving life would be very difficult if you do not have even the most basic knowledge of math. Unfortunately, math has never been the most popular subject among students. Viewed as complicated and boring, most students cringe at the very mention of the word.
To keep your students interested in math and to encourage them to study and learn about it, experts suggest using video games as a teaching and learning tool. Here are some video games you can let your students play to practice and hone their math skills:
- Matho
A combination of a math puzzle and a video game, Matho tests your students’ basic addition, multiplication and division skills. In the game, a problem is given and the player has to look for the answer on the game board. Once the answer is found, the player clicks on it and the color of the “tile” changes to signify that a correct answer has been given. The player gets a “matho” when he/she gets 5 “tiles” in a row. - Hidden Picture
The game tests your students’ basic arithmetic skills. The goal of the game is to reveal the picture hidden behind the “tiles” of number. To reveal the picture, the player must click on the tile with the correct answer to the equation given by the game. If the answer chosen by the player is correct, the tile disappears to reveal a part of the picture. Play the game from http://www.aplusmath.com/Games/index.html.
